How to Distress a Hat
Just like people enjoy ripped jeans or frayed denim jackets, many like their hats to look worn-in. One way to accomplish this is to give the hat a distressed cap. These hats are designed to have a worn, rough appearance and can be customized with your custom logo or design to create the perfect custom distressed cap for your business.
The first thing to keep in mind when distressing a new hat is that “easy does it.” You want to achieve the comfy worn-in look gradually, not crank up the intensity all at once. The best way to start is by using a seam ripper, or scissors to cut out some of the top-stitching, then rub it together with your fingers, creating small holes. For the crown and brim, use a sanding tool like a piece of sandpaper or even a cheese grater to gently sand the fabric in the direction of any nap and against it to create snags, worn spots, streaks, and knicks.
Our distressed cap is made of a cotton twill for high-end comfort and durability, and the sewn-in label adds a quality feel to your hat. Its low profile along with the d-ring closure on the self-fabric hideaway strap ensures proper sun protection and a comfortable, adjustable fit. The Direct to Film (DTF) printing technology on this custom hat will guarantee long-lasting, vibrant color and crisp details.
